Privacy Policy

PreFinds is a product recommendation website for readers in India. We do not sell products, and we do not run accounts or a checkout. This page says what personal data the site touches and what we do with it.

What we collect

We collect very little, and only in these ways:

• Email you send us. If you write to the address on the contact page, we receive whatever you include — typically your email address, your name if you sign it, and the message itself.
• Server logs. Our hosting provider may keep standard logs so the site can run and be protected. Those logs can include an IP address, browser type, and the page requested.
• Analytics. When analytics is switched on, we use Google Analytics to see which guides are useful — pages viewed, roughly where readers are, and the type of device. We use that to understand readership. We do not use it to build a profile that we sell.

We do not ask for payment details, a delivery address, or a phone number. A purchase made on Amazon.in or Flipkart is between you and that site.

Cookies

PreFinds itself does not set an account cookie, because there is nothing to log into. When Google Analytics is on, Google may set cookies (such as ones starting with _ga) and receive usage data under Google's privacy policy. You can block or delete cookies in your browser, or use a tracker blocker. The site still works if you do.

Affiliate links

Some links go to Amazon.in through the Amazon Associates Program, and some go to Flipkart through the Flipkart Affiliate Program. Those sites set their own cookies and can see that you arrived from PreFinds. If you buy something, we may earn a commission. We do not receive your payment details, your address, or the rest of your order from Amazon or Flipkart. More on how that works is in the affiliate disclosure.

We do not sell personal data

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data. We do not pass it to data brokers. We share it only with the services above (hosting and, when enabled, Google Analytics) so they can do the job we hired them for, or if the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

Emails are kept only as long as we need them to reply and to keep a record of the conversation. Analytics data is stored by Google under their retention settings. Server logs are kept by the host for as long as their normal operations require.

Children

PreFinds is written for adults shopping for themselves and their families. It is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
